MAO Architects have completed 35 social units for rental and sales in the 11th Parisian borough for Emerige and Ogic. This building has costed 4,8 million euros for 2 419m2. The residence is a tribute to the material of wood because it was previously a wood furniture manufacturing studio here dating from 1914.
This housing construction is located between Place de la Bastille and Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris. MAO Architects made use of the sites history by choosing materials that reflects the building past. Additionally, a still functioning woodworking shop was kept intact on the ground floor.
The structure was built with concrete pre-wall, the empty wall was cladded with wood and glass. This game between carrier and filling permit to understand the housing organization. This façade evokes the past woodworking shop which has a similar frame.
